Raku Workshop! (Intermediate/Advanced) - July 28th, 2026 | 5:00pm - 9:00pm

from CA$95.00

Hands On Pottery is hosting another Raku Workshop!

Raku firing is an ancient technique that involves pulling red-hot items out of a blazing kiln and covering them in organic materials to create a reduction environment. After 15 minutes in the sealed fireproof containers, we will remove the pieces and reveal the metallic and otherworldly items from the ashes. At this point we will then quench the pieces in water and scrub them clean to see the beauty that was created through this process.

We will provide various house-made tried and true Raku glazes. You will start the workshop with glazing pieces and as soon as we have enough pots to load the first Raku kiln, we will get it cooking!

You will make your pieces on your own time, bring them to us to bisque fire, and then return for the workshop to fire them and complete the process.

This workshop is for intermediate/advanced students who are able to create their pieces outside of our studio and are familiar with the stages of the pottery process - greenware, bisqueware, and glazeware. We will provide the Raku clay, the bisque firing, and the Raku experience! All Raku items must be made using the Raku clay provided by our studio.

Choose from these two options:

  • 5lbs of clay - Make a maximum of 3 pieces - $95

  • 10lbs of clay - Make a maximum of 5 pieces - $125

ALL PIECES MUST FIT WITHIN OUR MAX DIMENSIONS OF 11'' TALL, 7'' WIDE (WHEN WET)

Clay will be available for pick up anytime until 17th July. Our studio is located at Our studio is at 810 Cormorant St. and open 7 days a week, 10am-5:30pm.

Pieces must be dropped off at our studio for bisque firing by 21st July. This will ensure your pieces have enough time to dry and get bisqued so that they are ready to be glazed and fired on July 28th.
